Council Committees |
As a Member of the
Legislative Council, Ann is also a member of several
Parliamentary Committees.
When an issue arises that requires further scrutiny by
Parliament, a Member of Parliament can move a Motion to
establish either a
Select Committee or to refer the issue to a
Standing Committee.
Whereas a Select Committee is solely established to inquire
into one specific issue and dissolves when the Committee
completes its report, a Standing Committee is a
long-standing committee that holds many con-current
inquiries into a broad area of governance.
One example of a Standing Committee that Ann is a member of
is the Statutory Authorities Review Committee, which has
purview over all Statutory Authorities such as the Housing
Trust or the Land Management Council. Ann was appointed to
the Statutory Authorities Review Committee in November 2007 and
since that time has participated in inquiries into the:
Ann was also a member of the Legislative Review Committee
from May 2006 to November 2007.
Following numerous complaints of mistreatment and abuse of
process, in 2007 Ann established a Select Committee into
Families SA which is due to report later this year.
